Facilitators are construction professionals or experienced construction clients with a commitment to improving design quality. Being impartial to the building project they can successfully mediate at the workshops, bridging the gap between the demand side and the supply side.
There are often changes to the people filling the various roles who attend the DQI workshops. The Facilitator is committed to the project from start to finish and therefore provides a vital link stretching through the whole DQI process.
At the workshops
Facilitators explain the DQI process, control the pace of discussion and ensure that all opinions are included and recorded. At the early stages of a building project the Facilitator is instrumental in helping the Assessment group develop their ideas into direct opinions that form a consensus.
The Facilitator is responsible for interpreting the information that is output from the online questionnaires. They take the Assessment group through their results giving rise to discussions from which priorities can be assigned. All of this information is compiled by the Facilitator into a briefing record and is submitted as part of a larger report of the session for use in subsequent workshops.
The briefing record provides continuity between the workshops and allows the Facilitator to keep the Assessment group focused on their priorities.
