How it started

The Design Quality Indicator was launched in 2002 to provide a tool to assess the design quality of buildings. The development was led by the CIC with sponsorship from the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), the Commission for Architecture and the Built Environment (CABE), Constructing Excellence, and the Strategic Forum for Construction (SFfC), with the support of the Office of Government Commerce (OGC).

The Design Quality Indicator is a generic tool that can be used on a wide variety of buildings.
