The DQI Facilitator is fundamental to the DQI process. The Facilitator is an accredited professional who has been trained in facilitating workshops at all stages of the building process. They are independent of the building project and thereby maintain an unbiased overview. From this independent standpoint they are able to mediate between the assessment group and the technical design and construction teams at the various workshops.
Different people can come and go from the project but the Facilitator remains constant, steering the project through the DQI process.
The DQI Facilitator has a number of responsibilities throughout the DQI process:
- Acts as an impartial mediator for the workshops
- Ensures that the workshops run to schedule and are clearly structured
- Records opinions and concerns expressed
- Reminds all present of opinions and concerns expressed at previous workshops
- Ensures that conversations do not digress and shift away from critical project issues
- Ensures that workshops are not bogged down on a single detail/issue
- Ensures that Assessment group understand how to use the DQI briefing and evaluation tools
- Interprets results from the online tools and effectively communicates them to the assessment group
- Helps the assessment group to develop a language with which they can effectively communicate their needs to the building design team
- Ensures a Briefing Record is created at each workshop, incorporating the results of the online tools
